Lover's Eye
Portrait eyes, also called "lover's eyes", can be dated back to the late 1700's. Supposedly, when the then Prince of Wales and his mistress, Mrs. Fitzherbert, wanted to exchange portrait miniatures, but wanted to be discreet about it, the court miniaturist suggested painting a portrait of just the eye.
These contemporary versions are painted in kiln-fired enamels, and can be set in pendants or pins. If you send us a digital image of your eyes (or even those of your pet), we can create an enamel portrait for you to present to a loved one.
